Description: Ci·pher (noun) - A system of communication reminiscent of a secret code.
The creation process of this painting required absolute precision in each calculated yet free flow style of layering in the composition. As I worked on this piece, I focused on my inner dialogue within, watching my thoughts and feelings as I created through my visual and tactile senses. It feels like I ended up articulating my inner dialogue within myself onto the canvas through picking each line, shape, and colour; reminiscent of a code which only makes sense to me.
This painting is an example of seeing the beauty in our pain. As I reflected, processed, and internalized my inner state of being, I simultaneously created a safe space on the canvas through allowing myself to paint, resulting in something that is beautiful to me. This painting serves as a reminder that our own approval is the only true validation that we need, and through processing our own traumas, confusion, and inner turmoil’s, we can create a life that is bold, fearless, full of colours and experiences that feel intuitively right to us.
